Effective date: May 7, 2026
Flamigo ("we", "us", "our") is a language-learning app developed by Oborski Consulting (oborski.co). This policy describes what data the app collects, how we use it, and who we share it with.
Account information. When you sign up we store your name, email address, and profile photo provided by your authentication method (Google Sign-In or email/password). This data is held in Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, both operated by Google.
Learning data. We store the words you encounter, save, and practise, along with your learning stage, review timestamps, and practice scores. This powers the spaced-repetition system and progress tracking.
Browsing activity. When you open a webpage in the built-in browser, the app processes the page content locally to inject Spanish vocabulary. We store the URLs and page titles you visit so the app can show your reading history and personalize your feed. We do not record the full text of pages you visit.
Content sent to AI services. To generate translations, example sentences, and vocabulary cards, the app sends short text excerpts (typically a single paragraph surrounding a tapped word) to the OpenAI API. These requests include no personally identifiable information beyond the text itself. OpenAI's data usage policy applies to those requests (see openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies).
Local storage. Preferences such as your selected difficulty level, feed settings, and UI state are stored on your device using Android shared preferences. This data never leaves your phone.
We use collected data to provide and improve the language-learning experience: delivering vocabulary injections at the right difficulty, scheduling spaced-repetition reviews, personalizing your article feed, and generating translation cards. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Flamigo relies on the following third-party services that process data on our behalf:
We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.
Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Data at rest in Firebase is encrypted by Google. We restrict database access to authenticated users viewing their own data through Firestore security rules.
Flamigo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us. If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. The "effective date" at the top reflects the latest revision.
